New Balance Indoor Grand Prix: Russell makes it 2-0 vs Charlton over 60m hurdles in 2025
Reigning Olympic 100m hurdles champion, Masai Russell won her second 60m hurdles of the year at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, USA on Sunday to extend her head-to-head-record against reigning World 60m hurdles champion and record holder, Devyne Charlton of the Bahamas.
Russell first served notice of what to expect, especially at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China next month when she stormed home first over the 60m hurdles at the Texas Tech Corky Classic. She ran 7.89 to win ahead of Charlton who came in second in 7.93.
On Sunday, Russell again was the first to cross the finish line, this time in an improved 7.80 personal season’s best while Charlton was third this time around, as she scaled the hurdles in 7.85, also a personal season’s best.
In the overall head-to-head clashes however, Charlton leads 10-3!.
Paris Olympics 100m hurdles finalist, Grace Stark sped home in 7.81 to place second while Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent, the fastest woman over the 100m hurdles last year (12.24) placed fourth (7.92) with Christina Clemons fifth (8.02).
