NFF Mourns as Samuel Chukwueze Loses Mother

The Nigerian football community has been plunged into mourning following the passing of Mrs. Sarah Chukwueze, mother of Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze.

She died in the early hours of Thursday, 29th January 2026, after a brief illness.

Her children, Princess and David Chukwueze, announced the sad news on social media, describing her as the matriarch of the family whose presence had been a pillar of strength.

Reacting to the development, the General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed deep sorrow. He noted that Mrs. Chukwueze had been a vital and supportive figure in her children’s lives, particularly in Samuel’s journey as a professional footballer.

‘Samuel has always acknowledged his mother’s influence on his career. We are saddened by her departure, especially coming so soon after the sudden passing of the father of Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi,’ Sanusi said.

He added that the NFF prays for her eternal rest and for strength for Samuel and his siblings to bear the painful loss.
