NFF Names Akeem Busari as Flamingos’ New Head Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the appointment of Coach Akeem Ishola Busari as the new Head Coach of the U17 Girls National Team, the Flamingos.
The decision was endorsed by the NFF Executive Committee following a recommendation from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee.
Busari, who currently manages Pacesetter Queens Football Club of Ibadan, brings extensive experience and a strong background in women’s football to the role.
He succeeds Coach Bankole Olowookere, who guided the Flamingos to a historic bronze medal finish at the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India.
The new coach’s immediate assignment will be to lead Nigeria in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Morocco.
The Flamingos are set to begin their campaign next month, facing the winner of the preliminary tie between Niger Republic and Guinea, with the first leg away from home in the third week of April.
