NFF Names Jegede‑Idakwo, Omodiaghe as Flamingos’ Assistant Coaches

The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the appointment of assistant coaches to support Head Coach Akeem Ishola Busari in leading the U17 Girls’ National Team, Flamingos, as they prepare for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

Following the recommendation of the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee, former international defender Joy Jegede‑Idakwo has been named first assistant coach, while another ex‑international, Aighewi Omodiaghe, takes the role of second assistant.

In addition, former Nigeria international Kola Ige has been appointed as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.

Jegede‑Idakwo previously captained the U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, and earned several caps for the senior team, the Super Falcons.

Omodiaghe was part of the Nigeria U17 squad that featured at the inaugural FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand in 2008.

The trio will work alongside Busari as the Flamingos aim to secure qualification for the World Cup finals in Morocco later this year, with the ambition of surpassing the third‑place finish achieved by the Class of 2022.
