NFF Ready to Offer Chelle $100,000 Monthly Deal as Super Eagles Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is prepared to offer Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle a revised monthly salary of $100,000 as part of ongoing contract negotiations with the Franco-Malian tactician, according to Punch Newspaper.

The newspaper says a highly placed source within the federation disclosed to its correspondent that the NFF is willing to review Chelle’s current deal and meet some of the conditions he has proposed but stressed that the football body cannot exceed the $100,000 ceiling.

Chelle, who currently earns $50,000 per month, has requested a new contract worth $130,000 monthly, a figure he says would also cover the salaries of his technical staff.

‘We are open to reviewing Eric Chelle’s current contract and willing to meet some of the terms he has proposed. The Federal Government and NFF want continuity. If he lowers his demand, we want him to stay, but we are not prepared to offer more than $100,000 per month,’ the newspaper quoted the NFF source as saying.

The Punch also reports the source hinting that the NFF may begin searching for another foreign coach to lead the national team if Chelle insists on his higher demand while ruling out the possibility of appointing a local coach.
