Nigeria among 17 African nations to participate in 2024 eFIBA competition
Nigeria will be among the 17 African nations to participate in the 2024 eFIBA tournament following the unveiling of the highly anticipated third season of the competition, FIBA’s official NBA 2K tournament.
Nigeria will thus fight for a regional championship title which will qualify them for a spot in the prestigious eFIBA World Finals.
According to the FIBA official website, ‘eFIBA Season 3 will feature NBA 2K25 on the PlayStation 5, with National Federations from across multiple regional areas around the globe all getting the chance to battle it out for a share of the $50,000 prize pool on offer.’
The first action of the regional championships is set to tip off on October 1, 2024, in the shape of the regional pre-qualifiers and finish on October 14.
‘The regional qualifiers and regional finals will begin and run through until November 7. Eight teams will eventually qualify for the eFIBA World Finals, which will be played in person in December,’ wrote FIBA.
The African countries taking part in the regional qualifiers also include Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Morocco, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia.
