Nigeria impressed me the most at AFCON 2025, says Yayaha Toure

Ivory Coast legend Yahaya Toure, has mentioned Nigeria as the team that impressed him the most at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Morocco stopped Nigeria’s quest for a fourth continental title in the semi-final of the competition via a 4-2 victory on penalties.

However, the Eagles’ attacking style of play caught the attention of opponents, pundits and the global audience.

Nigeria sit at the top of some of the impressive stats at the competition, including the only team that won five games on a bounce and did not lose a game in open play.

Toure, who won the AFCON with the Elephants in 2015, praised the likes of Algeria and Morocco but reserved a special mention for the three-time African champions.

“I was impressed with Nigeria, Nigeria with good football, when you see the stats, then were scoring more than usual goals,” he told Bleacher Report Football.

“Feels like full attack playing very good football. The most impressive for me in my opinion is Nigeria. The football they played, the goals, they have two former African best players.

“They played good football but got kicked out by Morocco in the semi-finals.”

His country who were the defending champions, got eliminated in the quarter-final by Egypt.
