‘Nigerians’ fire Chelsea to 27th FA Cup semifinals

Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Maduekwe rose from the bench to score two goals in added minutes to steer Chelsea to the semifinal of the 2023/24 FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The two Nigerians by name and by parentage scored in the 92 and 98 minutes to ensure Super Eagles duo of Wilfred Ndidi who started the game and Kelechi Iheanacho who was an unused substitute will not be playing in the last four of the competition two years after they did on the road to beating Chelsea 1-0 in the final. Chelsea and Leicester City were tied 2-2 in regulation time before the ‘Nigerians’ embarked on the rescue mission.
