Nketiah makes it 11 goals in 11 starts for Gunners

Says he doesn't see himself as Gabriel Jesus' replacement

Eddie Nketiah has scored 11 goals in his last 11 starts for Arsenal in all competitions at the Emirates, notching his 11 goals from just 16 shots on target.

The Gunners’ forward was delighted with his perfromance in the 3-1 comeback win against West Ham on Boxing Day at the Emirates stadium.

The 23 year told told Amazon Prime after the game he does not see himself as Gabriel Jesus’ replacement.

“There’s pressure any time you play for Arsenal Football Club. I’m not here to replace him, I want to be my own player, but we all wish him well,” he said and hailed Arsenal’s great start after the 2022 World Cup break.

“It was a great restart. I think all the boys were at it today, firing, and it was nice for me to come in and contribute. It was good to pick up from where we left off and we want to continue that run.”

“We were very dominant today, we were just lacking that final pass. But we kept going and once we got one we knew we’d get more because we could feel the atmosphere behind us. There’s a real unity and connection with the fans and we want to build on it.

“We want to keep pushing and finish as high as possible, and we’re in great form at the moment.”

On his goal: “I turned a couple of times and got clipped. Then Martin [Odegaard] played it to me. I could feel the defender behind so rolled him and managed to finish.”
