‘No Time to Adapt at Big Club Like FC Porto’: Ex-Teammate Warns Moffi

Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has been urged to hit the ground running at FC Porto, with former teammate Mindaugas Grigaravicius insisting there is no room for slow adaptation at one of Portugal’s biggest clubs.

Moffi joined Porto on loan from French side OGC Nice during the winter transfer window, following a turbulent spell that saw him physically assaulted by fans late in 2025. His deal includes a purchase option worth €8 million plus €250,000 in bonuses.

Speaking to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Grigaravicius who played alongside Moffi at Lithuanian club FK Riteriai recalled the Nigerian’s early struggles in Europe after leaving England at just 18 years old.

‘He was a shy and quiet boy who didn’t speak at first. His first training sessions were terrible. We even wondered what he had come here to do — he lost every ball,’ Grigaravicius said.

But those difficult beginnings shaped Moffi’s resilience. After extra work and determination, he exploded into form, scoring 21 goals in 32 games in 2019.

‘He showed passion, power, a lot of strength… he crushed defenders, he killed them! He started scoring a lot of goals,’ Grigaravicius added.

Now 26, Moffi faces a new challenge at Porto, and his ex-teammate believes he has the tools to succeed — even surpassing Sporting CP’s star striker Viktor Gyökeres.

‘At a big club like FC Porto, there’s no time for adaptation. In good form, with everyone’s confidence, he has no limits. He could be better than Gyökeres at Sporting,’ Grigaravicius concluded.
