NPFL: Alimi and Mizo score in top scorer’s race as Remo Stars return to the top

Sikiru Adewale Alimi and Robert Christian Mizo were both on target Thursday evening as they both take their goal haul to 10 each in their battle for the NPFL top scorer for the 2023/24 NPFL season.

Alimi scored Remo Stars’ first goal on 90 minutes in a 2-0 defeat of Lobi Stars at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne.

Adams Olamilekan Alade added the second six minutes into added time as the host returned to the top of the NPFL table with 29 points from 15 games, one more than Doma United who dropped to second while Lobi Stars are third.

It was Mizo that however reached 10 goals first after putting visiting Bayelsa United 1-0 up against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.

Mizo scored on 24 minutes but the host rallied and got a deserved equalizer one minute into added time through Aliu Olasunkanmi Salawudeen.

Sporting Lagos are 14th on the log with 17 points from 14 games while the visitors are still rooted in the relegation zone with 14 points from 15 games and just above bottom club, Heartland of Owerri who lost 1-0 at Doma United on Wednesday.
