NPFL: Enyimba coach insists three points against Katsina United not negotiable
Enyimba will go all out to make it two consecutive wins in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) when they play host to Katsina United at the Enyimba Stadium come Sunday.
The club’s coach, Olanrewaju Yemi Daniel expects a tough game from the very experienced Katsina United side who held Emmanuel Amuneke’s Heartland to a goalless draw the last time they visited the Southeast from their Northwest base.
‘We know it is going to be a tough game. They are a good side with a lot of experienced players, but we must get our maximum points because we want to move up on the log.
‘All the players and the technical crew what is at stake. We cannot afford to drop our shoulder ow as we need to get as many points as possible before the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup starts,’ Coach Olanrewaju told the club’s media ahead of the game.
When both sides met last season, Katsina needed and Andrew Idoko’s 73rd minute goal to win all three points after Chijioke Mbaoma had drawn the Peoples’ Elephants level on 42 minutes after the host had gone ahead with a 25th minute goal by Michael Ibe at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina in January 2024.
In the reverse tie in April this year, Mbaoma scored the only goal of the game in the 60th minute to claim all three points.
Meanwhile, Enyimba have revealed the Family Stand at the Enyimba International stadium will be opened for the first time with ticket going for N3,000 instead of the earlier advertised N5,000.
