NPFL Fines Rangers ₦4m, Orders Closed-Door Matches
Flying Antelopes Sanctioned for Rule Breaches
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has charged Rangers International FC for multiple breaches of the NPFL Framework Rules during their home fixture against Barau FC on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
The Enugu-based club was found guilty of failing to provide adequate and effective security, which resulted in unauthorized persons gaining access to restricted areas.
The conduct of club officials was also deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute, while supporters engaged in gross misconduct, including harassment of match officials.
The NPFL Disciplinary Committee imposed a series of fines totaling ₦4 million: ₦1 million for inadequate security, ₦1 million for encroachment towards the field of play, ₦1 million for unsporting behavior of officials, and ₦1 million for failure to control supporters.
In addition to the financial penalties, Rangers will play their remaining two home matches behind closed doors. The sanctions underscore the league’s commitment to protecting the integrity of the competition and ensuring the safety of players, officials, and fans.
The club has been given 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal the decision.
