NPFL: Finidi angry with wasteful Enyimba in Rangers draw

Enyimba head coach Finidi George says he is angry his side failed to take their chances, especially in the first half as they were froced to a 1-1 draw by
Enugu Rangers in a NPFL game at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba on Wednesday.
Enyimba had thought it would be a cruise after Chijioke Mbaoma put the reigning NPFL champions in front after 12 minutes, heading in a cross from Chidiebere
Nnachi in a first half completely controlled and dominated by the hosts.
The Flying Antelopes came back strongly in the second half and deservedly equalised with three minutes left in regulation time with substitute, Kazeem
Ogunleye netting the back breaker.
Enyimba were thus forced to share the points and Finidi, a former Nigeria international could not hide his disappointment after the game.
‘I’m quite angry because in a game like this where you are supposed to wrap it up in the first half, you don’t take your chances, that’s what you get in
football,’ the gaffer told journalists after the match.
‘In the second half it was 50-50 because they came out as well because of the slim advantage that we have.
‘It’s a sad one, I’m not really happy. Today, you saw all the easy tap in chances we would have taken, yet we couldn’t convert them.
‘We could have even lost it at the end of the game if they had taken that last chance. It could have been zero point for us. It’s crazy.
‘They (Enyimba players) have to learn from it. We were unlucky. Sometimes, you have to enforce the luck, you can’t sit down and think it’s going to come your
way.’
Despite the draw, Enyimba moved a place up to 4th on the standings, with 23 points from 13 matches (though with 2 games in hand).
