NPFL Hits Enyimba FC with ₦6m Fine, Stadium Ban

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed sanctions on Enyimba International FC following breaches of the NPFL Framework and Rules during their Matchday 21 fixture against Barau FC on 18 January 2026.

The Aba-based club has been fined a total of ₦6 million and ordered to play their next three home matches behind closed doors.

The disciplinary measures stem from multiple incidents involving inadequate security and misconduct by supporters.

According to the NPFL, Enyimba failed to provide effective security, allowing unauthorized persons to gain access to restricted areas of the stadium.

Supporters also harassed match officials and encroached into restricted zones, holding officials hostage for several hours after the game.

The misconduct led to the loss of valuable items belonging to the officials, an act deemed capable of bringing the league into disrepute.

The breakdown of the sanctions includes ₦2 million for failing to provide adequate security, ₦1 million for encroachment into restricted areas, and ₦2 million for supporter misconduct and holding match officials hostage.

Enyimba has 48 hours from the date of notification to appeal the decision.
