NPFL: Ikorodu City Halt Rivers United’s Title Charge with 1-0 Win

Ikorodu City stunned Rivers United with a 1-0 victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League, thanks to Folarin Temitope’s decisive second-half strike.
The substitute forward pounced on a rebound from Salami Farouk’s effort, slotting past goalkeeper Osagie Onisodumeya.
Rivers United players protested, claiming an offside in the build-up, but the goal stood and ultimately proved the difference.
The defeat dents Rivers United’s push to extend their lead at the top of the NPFL table.
Despite the setback, they remain in first place, holding a one-point advantage over Rangers International and four points ahead of Ikorodu City, who have now firmly inserted themselves into the title race.
Attention now shifts to Rivers United’s rescheduled matchday 26 fixture against Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, where they will look to bounce back and protect their slim lead at the summit.
