NPFL: ‘I’m ready to defend Rangers’ badge against Bendel Insurance,’ Says ex-Edo Arsenal’s Ogbonda

Former Bendel Insurance versatile left-back, Evans Ogbonda says he is in good shape to defend the badge of the reigning NPFL champions, Rangers against his former side when both teams clash on Sunday in Enugu.

Ogbonda last featured for the ‘Benin Arsenals’ before pitching tents with the ‘Flying Antelopes’ and has been in fine form since joining from the Benin-City based side.

He said that he won’t be in any form of pressure as he and his teammates confront his former club stressing that he is on the pay roll of Rangers and would do all he can to ensure that the maximum points were gotten at the end of the fixture in Enugu.

‘I am not under any form of pressure because, it’s a game of football. They are my former team of which I respect them a lot, but I have moved on and I have to defend the badge of Rangers. I owe them respect but not inside the field of play.

‘Coming on Sunday, I assure my fans and the club’s numerous supporters, nothing but victory. We will put a smile on their faces when going home after the match,” stated the versatile footballer who can effortlessly fit into many positions on the pitch.

Ten spots separate the sides with large followership on the domestic scene as the reigning champions currently petch on the 6th spot with the visitors on 16th spot.

Last season, it was honors shared as Insurance ran away with a 2-0 victory in the first round.

Rangers extracted their own pound of flesh in the reverse tie, a match day 37 fixture with Kenechukwu Agu and Chidiebere Nwobodo goals in either half settling the hostilities as the Flying Antelopes went on to be crowned winners of the league for the 8th time last season.
