NPFL Mourns NRA President, Alhaji Sani Zubairu

The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Sani Zubairu, President of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA).

In a heartfelt condolence message, Elegbeleye extended sympathies to the Zubairu family, the NRA, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), noting that the late retired FIFA referee’s contributions to the growth of the league remain an enduring legacy for referees across the country.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon Zubairu’s soul and asked that his family, colleagues, and the wider football community find comfort in the remarkable impact he made during his lifetime.

Alhaji Sani Zubairu, a Bauchi-born retired FIFA referee, was elected President of the NRA during the delegates’ conference held at Bovina Hotels in Kwara State on April 29, 2023.
