NPFL: Plateau United Humiliate Shooting Stars as Remo Stars’ Collapse Deepens

Plateau United delivered the biggest statement of NPFL matchday 27, thrashing Shooting Stars 4-1 in Jos in a result masterminded by the Ibadan club’s immediate past coach, Gbenga Ogunbote.

The visitors had taken an early lead through Qamar Adegoke in the 12th minute, but Plateau responded instantly with Tarabina Biweribo’s equaliser.

Harrison Ebah put them ahead before half-time, Vincent Temitope extended the advantage from the spot in the 55th minute, and Alao Danbani sealed the rout ten minutes later to complete a humiliating afternoon for the Oluyole Warriors.

Elsewhere, Ikorodu City dropped points at home for the first time in five matches, drawing 1-1 with Bayelsa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Ettah Ikoi stunned the hosts in the 35th minute before Olanrewaju Molade’s free-kick salvaged a point. Ikorodu remain top, one point clear of Rangers. Rivers United also faltered, drawing 1-1 with Enyimba in Port Harcourt.

Abiodun Joseph gave the visitors the lead before Aniekeme Okon equalised, but Rivers failed to find the winner that would have taken them level at the summit.

Kano Pillars climbed out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors, thanks to goals from Rabiu Ali, Luis Dadong, and Chiedozie Okorie.

Abia Warriors ended a five-game winless run by edging Kwara United 1-0 in Umuahia through Casmir Azubuike’s strike, while Nasarawa United beat Bendel Insurance 1-0 courtesy of John Joshua’s first-half goal to move within a point of the leaders.

Kun Khalifat boosted their survival hopes with a 2-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in Owerri, as Adamu Mohammed and Oghenetega Ebetomame struck in the first half. Katsina United held Rangers to a goalless draw, keeping the Flying Antelopes unbeaten in four matches.
