NPFL: Rangers hold Enyimba as Doma United make it sixth straight 1-0 win
Rangers international of Enugu earned their third point on the road in the ongoing Nigeria Premier League season after
holding Enyimba to a 1-1 draw at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba.
The host had declared war on the Flying Antelopes on the eve of the game, writing on X, formerly twitter that they had a
score to settle with the Coal City side but no score was settled at the end of 90 minutes.
When Enyimba scored first as early as the 12th minute of the game through Mbaoma Chijioke, supporters of the Peoples
Elephant would have thought the Flying Antelopes will fall to yet another defeat in Aba but Rangers’ Kazwem Ogunleye
thought otherwise as he fired in the equaliser with three minutes left in regulation time.
The Owerri-based team have drawn two of their last three away games and will be hoping for another draw when they step on
the turf of the Pantami Township Stadium where they lost 2-0 to Gombe United just last weekend.
While it was Rangers’ third draw in eight away games, it was Enyimba’ first draw at home this season in the competition.
Meanwhile, Doma United secured their sixth 1-0 home win to return to the top of the log with 28 points from 15 matches, two points ahead of Remo Stars and Lobi Stars who play on Thursday in Ikenne, Ogun state, South West of Nigeria.
A 42nd minute goal by Nelson Abiam at the Pantami Township Stadium in Gombe was all Doma United needed to defeat Heartland of Owerri for their eighth win of the season in the NPFL.
