NPFL: Rangers lose first home game since January 2023; Kwara United, Nasarawa United win 3-0

Reigning Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Rangers international of Enugu lost to visiting Kano Pillars of Kano 4-3 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu in a match week six game on Wednesday.

The Flying Antelopes’ wings were clipped with four unreplied goals in the first half of the game as the visitors scored through Rabiu Ali’s brace (15 and 37 minutes), a goal each by Zulkifilu Muhammad Rabiu (28th minute) and former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa (46th minute).

Rangers began a fight back in the second half but could only score thrice through a brace from Isaac Saviour (47 and 59 minutes) and a 90th minute goal by Emmanuel Nenrot.

It was Rangers’ first home loss since January 15, 2023, when they lost to Oriental brothers, Abia Warriors.

Rangers have now lost two consecutive games for the first time since November/December last year when they lost three in a row to Abia Warriors (1-0), Plateau United (2-1) and Bayelsa United (2-0).

The Flying Antelopes will now be hoping they do not repeat that unwanted feat when they face Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo on Sunday.

In other games decided on Wednesday, Lobi Stars were forced to a 2-2 draw while Kwara United spanked Sunshine Stars 3-0 at the Kwara Sports Complex in Ilorin, same score line was recorded at the Lafia Township Stadium in Lafia where homers, Nasarawa United annihilated Abia Warriors while the game between Enyimba and Niger Tornadoes ended 1-1 at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba.
