NPFL: Rangers secure fifth straight away draw, Enyimba winless in four

Enugu Rangers extended their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, to eight games after forcing Enyimba of Aba to a goalless draw on Tuesday at the Enyimba international stadium in Aba in a match week 15 clash.

Like they did almost a year ago at the same venue, the Flying Antelopes defended stoutly to secure their second straight draw in Aba and their fifth draw away from home in the 2024/25 season.

Rangers, the defending champion, have not lost a game in the league since they lost 4-3 to an Ahmed Musa-inspired Kano Pillars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium in Enugu in October.

The point gained consolidated their hold on fourth place with 24 points, after moving clear of El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri who failed to defeat Bayelsa United at the weekend in Maiduguri.

For Enyimba, it was a fourth NPFL game without a win and fifth across all competitions if their 2-0 CAF Confederation Cup loss to Al Masry of Egypt last mid-week is added.

The Peoples Elephant had hoped to start December with a win after drawing three and lost one of their four games in November.

While Rangers will be hoping for their seventh home win when they host league leaders, George Finidi’s Rivers United this weekend, Enyimba will be keen to record their first win in six games across all competitions when they host Zamalek of Egypt in a CAF Confederation Cup group game at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium in Uyo on Sunday.
