NPFL Review: Shooting Stars Struggle as Nasarawa United Return to Summit

Shooting Stars’ winless run stretched to four matches after they were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United in Ilorin.

The Oluyole Warriors, aiming to break back into the top half of the table, failed to find the decisive goal and were left with their fifth draw of the season.

Abia Warriors also endured frustration, dropping points at home for only the second time this campaign in a 0-0 stalemate with Bendel Insurance in Umuahia.

Imama Amapakabo’s men missed the chance to climb into second place, having previously been held by Enyimba at the same venue.

Reigning champions Remo Stars climbed to 10th position after a 2-0 victory over Barau FC in Abeokuta. Ahmed Akinyele opened the scoring after 14 minutes before Victor Mbaoma sealed the win in the second half, giving the Sky Blue back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Nasarawa United returned to the top of the table with a commanding 3-0 win over El Kanemi Warriors in Lafia. Anas Yusuf struck just before half-time and added another moments after the restart, before Garba Mohammed made it three in quick succession.

The Solid Miners ended a four-game winless streak with one of their most convincing performances of the season.

Wikki Tourists extended their unbeaten run to five matches but were held to a 1-1 draw by Bayelsa United in Bauchi. Ifeanyi Ogba gave the visitors an early lead, but Nasiru Jibrin equalised late on to salvage a point for the home side.

Enugu Rangers continued their steady climb up the table, moving into fifth place after a narrow 1-0 win over Niger Tornadoes at the Cathedral.

Kenechukwu Agu scored the decisive goal in the 70th minute, securing the Flying Antelopes’ sixth victory of the season and their second in three matches.
