NPFL: Rivers United Move Two Points Clear After 3-0 Win Over El-Kanemi Warriors

Rivers United tightened their grip on the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title race with a commanding 3-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in Port Harcourt.

The win, one of their rescheduled fixtures following their continental campaign, lifts the Pride of Rivers two points clear at the summit with 49 points from 26 matches.

The hosts wasted no time asserting dominance, breaking the deadlock in the ninth minute when Wisdom Samuel struck to put them ahead.

After a controlled second half, Rivers United doubled their advantage in the 71st minute as Chijioke Mbaoma calmly converted from the penalty spot to register his first goal of the season.

Samuel then capped off a brilliant individual performance with a thunderous effort in the final minute of regulation time, sealing the three-goal triumph.

Under the guidance of coach Finidi George, Rivers United now stand two points ahead of Rangers International, who have played two more matches.

With two games still in hand, Rivers United’s destiny is firmly in their own hands as they chase domestic glory.
