NPFL set to Kick Off 2025/26 season with Fixture Draw at AGM in Abuja

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) will officially launch its 2025/26 season with a high-profile Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Monday, July 28, at the Abuja Continental Hotel (formerly Sheraton).
Club representatives are expected to arrive on Sunday, July 27, ahead of the event.
According to NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the AGM will feature key presentations and culminate in the fixture draw ceremony, setting the stage for the new season which kicks off on August 22.
‘In addition to the various reports that will be presented at the AGM, we are also going to conduct the framework for the fixtures of the new season,’ Owumi told NPFL Media.
The meeting will be presided over by NPFL Board Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, alongside board members and representatives from the 20 clubs that participated last season.
The four newly promoted clubs will be formally welcomed into the top flight, while the four relegated sides will attend their final AGM as NPFL members.
Adding prestige to the event, NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau is expected to declare the meeting open, with several ex-international players also slated to attend, bringing flair and nostalgia to the fixture unveiling.
The 2025/26 season promises fresh rivalries, renewed ambitions, and a thrilling race for continental spots, following a dramatic 2024/25 campaign that saw Remo Stars clinch their maiden NPFL title.
