NPFL: Shooting Stars chase first win of season to Benin; Rangers, Enyimba back in action after continental battles

Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan will be hoping to secure their first win of the season in three games when they face Bendel Insurance of Benin on Wednesday in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday three game at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin.

The game was originally scheduled to hold last Saturday but had to be postponed due to the Edo State Gubernatorial Elections scheduled for the same day.

While the visitors who have drawn their first two games of the season 1-1 (Vs Nasarawa United and Plateau United), Bendel Insurance drew their opening home game and lost their first away game 2-1 at Katsina United.

Shooting Stars lost 2-0 at the same ground last season before winning 1-0 in the reversed fixture in Ibadan last February.

Also on Wednesday, Rangers international of Enugu will be hoping to kickstart their season after their false start.

The ‘Flying Antelopes’ drew their opening game of the season with visiting El-Kanemi Warriors and last Saturday crashed out of the CAF Champions League at the second preliminary stage.

They are guest of NPFL debutante, Ikorodu City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

The homers lost their first ever opening NPFL game 3-0 at Kano Pillars before they rallied to snatch a point at Kwara United last weekend with a 0-0 draw.

Also on Wednesday, Enyimba of Aba will host Lobi Stars in another rescheduled game.

The Peoples’ Elephants sealed their place in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup following their shoot-out win against Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.
