NPFL: Shooting Stars grab first away win in eight months, Amokachi falls with Lobi Stars for the fifth away game in a row!

Shooting Stars of Ibadan ended their winless run away from home on Saturday at the Remo Stars stadium where they defeated their host, Sunshine Stars in a Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, matchday 16 game.

The Southwest derby led to pre-match billings, but it was the visitors, the Oluyole Warriors who ended their six-match unbeaten run away to snatch all three points courtesy of Otakho Aghahowa’s 28th minute strike.

It was the second time in seven away games that Shooting Stars would score away from their Lekan Salami stadium abode in Adamasingba in Ibadan and the first time it would count.

The vistory is also Shooting Stars first away win in eight points. The last time they won away was in April 2024 when they defeated Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano with Dumte Pyagbara scoring the winner in the 90th minute.

Shooting Stars are now fifth on the log but could drop back to seventh if Plateau United beat Bayelsa United and Niger Tornadoes win at Abia Warriors on Sunday.

At the Lafia Township stadium in Lafia, home side, Nasarawa United pipped Daniel Amokachi and Lobi Stars 1-0 to win the north central derby.

Qamar Adegoke scored the only goal of the game on 12 minutes to condemn Amokachi and his Lobi Stars to their fifth straight away loss.

With the victory, Nasarawa moved out of the bottom of the table to 14th on the spot with 18 points, two more than their victims who are 16th on the log.

Loni Stars could drop to the bottom three if results on Sunday do not go their way.
