NPFL Steps In to Broker Peace Between Remo Stars and Ikorodu City

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has waded into the simmering feud between Remo Stars and Ikorodu City, convening a peace meeting ahead of the league’s resumption on Wednesday, January 14.

In a letter addressed to both clubs, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi invited representatives of the teams to a reconciliation session scheduled for Tuesday, January 13 at the league’s headquarters in Abuja.

‘The NPFL is deeply disturbed by the growing acrimony between the two geographically brother clubs and wishes to intervene to engender an atmosphere of peace and sportsmanship,’ the letter stated.

While reaffirming its commitment to upholding the NPFL Rules and Framework, the league stressed the importance of cordial relationships among clubs, noting that healthy ties at management level would trickle down to supporters.

To this end, the NPFL directed each club to send two senior management officials, not below the rank of Team Manager, to the meeting. The league believes that reconciling differences among top executives will help restore harmony between the clubs and their fan bases.
