NPFL Youth League: Remo Stars and Ikorodu City Clinch Ikenne Zone Playoff Spots

With one matchday remaining, Remo Stars and Ikorodu City have secured their places in the finals playoff of the 2025 NPFL Youth League, emerging from the Southwest zone after four matches each.

Both teams sit atop the group with 10 points, having played out a goalless draw on Thursday following a one-day break. Their dominant performances on Matchday 4 sealed their qualification.

Ikorodu City delivered a commanding 3-0 win over Kwara United, extinguishing the latter’s hopes of a late surge after their impressive 3-0 victory against Shooting Stars on Matchday 3.

David Peter struck twice in quick succession (28’, 33’) and Gazali Ibrahim added a third in the 43rd minute.

Remo Stars boosted their goal difference with a resounding 5-0 victory over Sunshine Stars, edging ahead of Ikorodu City in scoring stats.

Daniel Arierhi opened the scoring in the 17th minute and later added another in the 74th Akinocchio Mervielle (47’), Saka Yusuf (67’), and Imram Musa (87’) also found the net.

Shooting Stars’ poor form persisted as they fell 1-0 to Bendel Insurance. Oshodi Miracle’s 10th-minute goal proved decisive.

The Ikenne zonal qualifiers wrap up on Saturday, August 10, while the Umuahia and Kano zonal playoffs are set to kick off the same day.
