NSC Inaugurates LOC for Abuja 2027 African Youth Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has officially inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the African Youth Games, tagged Abuja 2027.

The 28-member committee was unveiled by NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, who charged them with the responsibility of delivering the most successful youth games ever staged on the continent.

Dikko assured the committee of the Commission’s full backing and emphasized the federal government’s commitment to hosting an international-standard event.

He congratulated the members, reminding them that their assignment requires careful planning, transparency, teamwork, and coordination.

‘I want to assure all our African partners and stakeholders that Abuja 2027 will be safe, well-organised, and memorable for all our young athletes,’ he said.

Chairman of the LOC, Lekan Abari, expressed gratitude to the NSC leadership for the ongoing renaissance in Nigerian sports. He pledged that the committee would work with dedication and transparency to deliver the best-ever African Youth Games.

The LOC includes prominent figures such as Deputy Chairman Bar Musa Amadu, Secretary Sagaya Abdulmumeen, Dr Ibrahim Abdul, Sabina Chikere, Arc Adamu Tanimu, Olubunmi Ola-Oluode, Dr Lydia Gbagi, Olufunke Florence Olu-Young, Dr Oba Funsho Usman, Chief Victor Onogagamue, Farouk Yarma, and many others drawn from diverse professional backgrounds.
