NSC powers Nigeria’s entry into World University Games

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has facilitated Team Nigeria’s participation at the upcoming FISU World University Games in Germany, scheduled for July 16–21, 2025. Represented by the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA), the country will compete in five sporting disciplines: athletics, badminton, table tennis, judo, and taekwondo.

The Nigerian delegation includes 32 student-athletes and 10 officials, all set to carry the nation’s colors on a global stage. NSC’s support covers critical funding and logistics in collaboration with NUGA.

NSC Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, commented:

‘Our support for NUGA reflects our belief in the transformative power of school sports to shape future champions. These young athletes carry the dreams of a nation, and we are proud to stand behind them.’

NUGA President, Professor Bawa Mohammed, commended the initiative:

Team Nigeria will settle in Germany ahead of the tournament’s kickoff, prepared to make a lasting impression.
