Dikko unveils cash rewards for Team Nigeria at CAA U18/U20 Championship

Team Nigeria’s young track and field stars are cashing in on glory at the CAA Africa U18/U20 Athletics Championship in Abeokuta, thanks to a generous incentive package announced by the National Sports Commission (NSC).

NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade energized the championship crowd on Day 2 with a pledge of:

₦1,000,000 for every gold medal

₦750,000 for silver

₦500,000 for bronze

‘The determination in our athletes’ eyes is inspiring,’ said Mallam Dikko. ‘We’ll continue rewarding their hard work and patriotism.’

Hon. Olopade, who also chairs the Local Organizing Committee, emphasized athlete care and the importance of grooming future champions: ‘When we support our athletes, they give back through medal-winning performances. These young talents are key to our success at upcoming global competitions like the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.’

With outstanding performances already pouring in, federation officials hailed the NSC’s initiative as a bold step toward building Nigeria’s competitive edge in global athletics.
