Nugent prepares for first Diamond League final with third post-Olympics win in Zagreb
World leader, Ackera Nugent effortlessly scaled the 100m hurdles home first in 12.55 seconds to win the high hurdles event at the Memorial Borisa Hanžekovića 2024, a World Athletics Continental Tour gold meeting in Zagreb, Croatia on Sunday.
The Jamaican won ahead of Great Britain’s Cindy Sember (12.67) former world record holder, Kendra Harrison (12.76) of the USA.
Nugent has been very impressive since she failed to finish in the event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The 22-year-old has raced inside 12.30 twice after her misadventure to Paris and has broken two Diamond League meeting records, including setting a 12.44 world lead, the second joint fastest time in the world since Tobi Amusan ran 12.12 world record in Oregon, USA in 2022.
Nugent stands as the favourite to win her first Diamond League trophy this weekend in Brussels and could also break the 12.27 meeting record set by former Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn set two years ago.
