Nwabali reveals two reasons why big clubs have not signed him

Chippa United of South Africa and Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has given two likely reasons why he has not been signed by big clubs in Africa and Europe after his superb performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations early this year.

The Nigerian was linked with a number of clubs in Europe and Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa but there was no offer for him during the summer transfer window.

‘A lot of clubs have come for me but probably [they are not willing to pay my worth] and probably they are looking at me as ‘it’s just his first hit at Afcon, let’s keep on watching him.’ A lot of clubs always do that,’ said Nwabali in an interview with Metro FM.

The 28-year-old who joined Chippa United in October 2022 and has kept 15 clean sheets in 46 appearances so far also told the radio station Kaizer Chiefs are one of the clubs he really wanted to sign for in South Africa albeit his chances of joining one of the traditional South African clubsides are very slim.

‘To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is really one of the clubs I really want to play [for],’ Nwabali told Metro FM.

‘This is the club I want to play [for] in South Africa, with all my heart. I won’t say I have been supporting them but this is the club I felt I want to play for.’
