Ofili begins Olympics adventure in the 200m in heat six

Favour Ofili will have t put the disappointment of being denied the chance to run in the 100m event by incompetent athletics officials behind her focus on the 200m event which starts Sunday at the Stade de France in Paris.

The 21 year old has been drawn lane two of the sixth heat and will battle for the three automatic tickets with former 200m world champion, Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain and African sister, Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye.

The Nigerian, with a 22.33 personal season’s best is the second fastest in the heat behind Asher-Smith who holds a 22.13 personal season’s best.

Ofili is seen as one of the favorites to qualify for the final alongside USA trio Gabrielle Thomas, Mckenzie Long, and Brittany Brown as well as Lucia’s Julien Alfred, Ivorien, Marie Jose Ta Lou-Smith and reigning world champion, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica.
