Ofili ready to come back stronger after Paris 2024 Olympics disappointment
Nigeria 100m champion, Favour Ofili says she will not use her inability to win a medal or her non-registration for the 100m by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, to dampen her morale but will see it as an opportunity to come back stronger.
Ofili, 21, who finished sixth in the 200m event at the Paris 2024 Olympics in her debut at the Games, took to her X page to post a soul-lifting message.
‘It’s easy to feel defeated, but every setback is a setup for a comeback. I’m proud of myself, this Olympic made me realize how strong I am and I’m grateful for the support I got from my coach, family and fans.
‘Trusting Gods plan and ways is the only way to heal, because I know his plans for me is to give me a hope and a future.
‘Thank you Paris for yet another lesson learned and thank you to everyone who has been with me along the way—this isn’t the end, it’s just another step in the story,’ she wrote.
Ofili a personal season’s best of 22.05 in the semifinals of the 200m event to race to the top of the African list and it is the fastest time by an African in two years.
She holds an 11.07 personal season’s best in the 100m and ran two wind-aided times of 10.78 and 10.85.
