Ogba Returns to the Arena as Adviser to 2025 National Youth Games LOC

Just months after being quietly eased out as Chairman of the Delta State Athletics Association, Chief Solomon Ogba is back in the spotlight—this time as Adviser to the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 9th National Youth Games (NYG), set to take place in Asaba, Delta State.

The appointment marks a significant return for Ogba, a former Commissioner for Sports in Delta State.

The Delta State Sports Commission officially inaugurated the eight-member LOC ahead of the Games, which kick off on August 26.

Athletes and officials from across Nigeria are expected to converge in Asaba for the multi-sport event, which has become a vital platform for discovering and nurturing young talent.

Chairing the LOC is Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, head of the Sports Commission, who will oversee the planning and execution of the Games.

The committee includes seasoned administrators and sports advocates such as former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje, Mr. Oghale Ofremu, Miss Henrietta Ehiabor, former DG Mr. Festus Ohwojero, Mr. Paul Omamomo-Ojo, and Acting DG Emuobo Igalase, who will serve as Secretary.

The Commission has charged the LOC with delivering a world-class event that reflects Delta State’s reputation as Nigeria’s sports powerhouse.

For Ogba, the appointment is more than ceremonial—it’s a chance to once again shape the future of Delta state athletics from the inside.
