Oghenebrume, Godbless among seven LSU athletes honored by Louisiana Sports Writers Association
Nigerian stars Godson Oghenebrume and Tima Godbless are among seven Louisiana State University, LSU, athletes named in Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s All-Louisiana Track and Field team announced this weekend.
According to LSU website, a panel of track media/communications members nominated and selected the two Nigerians among the award winners for both men and women.
Oghenebrume was named top track athlete after the 21 year old finished fourth in the 100m at the NCAA Championships and was part of the runner-up NCAA 4×100 relay team for the Tigers.
He is the back-to-back SEC 100-meter champion and 4X100 relay champion but looks to be out of Nigeria’s Paris 2024 Olympic team after he got injured in Team Nigeria’s training camp in Germany.
On the women’s side, Godbless was also listed after she earned three first-team All-American nods. She is the first freshman in the USA to do so since former LSU track star Sha’Carri Richardson.
Godbless qualified for the Olympics in three events (100m, 200m, 4×100) but will only compete in the 100m and 4x100m events.
