The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to the Ogun Women Run, pledging full support for the fourth edition of the event scheduled for 2026.

The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Sports, who commended the organisers, Brussel Sports Management Limited, for their dedication to promoting women’s participation in sports.

He emphasized that the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun remains committed to initiatives that foster sports development, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement across the state.

Mrs. Yetunde Johnson, Managing Director of Brussel Sports Management Limited, expressed gratitude to the government for its consistent backing since the race’s inception.

‘The government’s commitment to sports development has provided the foundation for the Ogun Women Run to grow steadily over the years. With this continued partnership, we are confident that the fourth edition will be even more successful,’ she said.

The Commissioner highlighted Ogun State’s growing reputation as a hub for major sporting events, citing preparations for the 2025 National Sports Festival, the Confederation of African Athletics U-18 and U-20 Championships, and the West Africa Para Games.

He noted that the Ogun Women Run aligns with the state’s vision of using sports as a tool for empowerment, unity, and improved wellbeing.

With the government’s backing, organisers say the 2026 edition promises to be the most spectacular yet, further solidifying Ogun State’s position as a premier destination for sports in Nigeria.
