Ogunmodede extends Remo Stars deal, says target is to win the NPFL and go far on the continent

Remo Stars Sports Club has announced the extension of the contract of gaffer, Daniel Ogunmodede.

The club in a tweet on its X handle says the coach will remain at the club until 2027.

‘We are glad to announce that Daniel Ogunmodede has signed an extension to remain as the head coach of the club until 2027,’ wrote the club.

Ogunmodede, helped Remo Stars to a second-place finish in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the second time consecutively and will be in charge of the Sky Blue on the continent for the third time.

Speaking on the new contract, Remo Stars CEO, Adedoyin Ogungbefun said:

‘For us at Remo Stars, we are glad that he is still here, he has done a marvelous job and we hope that he can do better. That’s why we are extending the contract.’

‘His work rate and professionalism are exceptional and we hope we can have a fruitful time together.’

Ogunmodede said: ‘Saying I am glad is an understatement, I am happy the club is able to see what I have done so far and to have counted me worthy to have an extension is a big motivation for me.

‘My thanks, of course, go to my staff and my players; without their empathy and friendship, this wouldn’t be possible. I love my players and it is a pleasure to know that we are going to be together for at least the next three years.’

Players and other backroom staff of the club celebrated with the gaffer on his contract extension ahead of Tuesday’s training session in Ikenne.

The club, founded by sports philanthropist, Kunle Soname will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League this season and will play their first game at the Remo Stars stadium in Ikenne on Saturday.
