Okpekpe Race Organizer, Itemuagbor Appointed Marketing Advisor to NPFL Board

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has appointed renowned sports marketing expert Mike Itemuagbor as Special Marketing Advisor to its board. The move is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the league’s financial foundation and attract major sponsorships.
Itemuagbor, founder of Padmozi Sports Marketing (PSM), brings over 30 years of experience in sports marketing and sponsorship development. His appointment was made by NPFL Chairman Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, who emphasized the value of Itemuagbor’s contribution.
‘The best part of this is that this great marketing mind is going to render his services free of any personal financial reward—it’s pro bono,’ Elegbeleye said.
Itemuagbor has played key roles in securing landmark sponsorship deals in Nigerian football, including the historic Globacom partnership with the national teams and the then Nigeria Premier League.
He has also worked extensively with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
He is widely recognized as the founder and organizer of the Okpekpe International 10km Road Race, the first World Athletics label road race in West Africa.
The race also made history as the first in the region to have its course officially measured and certified by a World Athletics-accredited course measurer.
The Okpekpe Race has consistently attracted elite long-distance runners from across the globe and elevated Nigeria’s profile in international athletics.
With this advisory role, Itemuagbor is expected to leverage his deep network in corporate Nigeria and his proven track record to reposition the NPFL for greater commercial success.
