Ola Aina revels in Forest’s Europa League win in Turkey

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has taken a playful jab at Fenerbahce after Nottingham Forest’s emphatic 3-0 victory in their UEFA Europa League clash in Istanbul.

The Turkish side had warned Forest to expect a hostile atmosphere at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, famously dubbed ‘welcome to hell,’ but Aina insisted the experience felt more like heaven.

The Nigerian international featured for the full 90 minutes as Forest delivered one of their most commanding performances of the season.

Goals from Murillo dos Santos, Igor Jesus, and Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the win, giving the Premier League strugglers a strong advantage heading into the second leg.

In a video that quickly went viral, Aina mocked the pre-match warnings, saying: ‘Came to Istanbul, they told us welcome to hell. It was feeling like heaven though.’

Despite their domestic struggles, which have already seen three managers dismissed this season, Forest will hope to carry their European momentum into the league.

They remain just three points above the relegation zone and face a crucial test against Liverpool at the City Ground this weekend.
