Oliseh Warns Indiscipline Could Ruin Super Eagles’ Future
Former Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh has sounded a stern warning that Nigeria’s national team risks losing its reputation if the growing issue of indiscipline among players is not urgently addressed.
His remarks follow the heated on-field exchange between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s round of 16 clash against Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Oliseh expressed disappointment that the team chose to celebrate a bronze medal finish, insisting that such behavior reflects deeper problems within the squad.
The 1994 AFCON winner stressed that the coaching staff and technical crew must act quickly to restore order before the situation spirals into a full-blown crisis. He lamented that many ex-internationals have remained silent while the team’s standards continue to decline.
Speaking on Global Football Insights, Oliseh explained his decision to stay quiet during the tournament to avoid distracting the players. But with Senegal crowned champions, he believes the time has come to confront the truth.
‘If we don’t fix the discipline and the administration, there won’t be a Super Eagles left to support in the future,’ Oliseh declared. ‘My colleagues and I have stayed silent for years, but I won’t stay silent about the downfall of our football. We need to get back to being respected.’
