Olusoji Fasuba: What I Achieved in Six Years, my 14‑Year‑Old Daughter Did in Two!

Former African sprint champion Olusoji Fasuba has hailed his daughter Annabelle’s precocious rise after she signed with Adidas at just 14 years old, achieving in two years what took him six.

Fasuba, Africa’s former 100m record holder, the only man to win the African Championships gold three consecutive times, World Indoor 60m champion (the only African ever to win the title), and Olympic bronze medallist in the 4x100m relay, reflected with pride: ‘It took me six years to earn my Adidas contract. Annabelle has done it in two.’

Annabelle has already begun rewriting records in British athletics.

At the London Indoor Games, she stunned spectators by winning the under‑17 girls’ 60m final in 7.37 seconds. The time is the second fastest recorded for an U18 and joint fourth fastest by an U20 athlete so far this year albeit she is just 14 years!

Her breakthrough 2025 season saw her crowned national U15 champion across the 60m, 100m, and 200m events.

She clocked 11.51 seconds in the 100m, breaking the U15 record, and equalled the national U15 record in the 200m with 23.72 seconds. By late 2025, she had stepped up to U17 level, immediately breaking both U17 and U20 club records with 7.50 seconds in the 60m.

Backed by Adidas and guided by coach KarenNeal Callaghan Edwards, Annabelle Fasuba is now regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young sprint talents.

For her father, who came agonisingly close to an individual global medal with a fourth‑place finish at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, her rise represents the continuation of a family legacy, and the hope that she will achieve what eluded him on the biggest stage viz an individual medal at the Olympics and the Worlds.
