Omanyala shifts focus to Kip Keino Classics after 10.05 run in Rabat

African 100m record holder (9.77) Ferdinand Omanyala says his focus is now on this weekend’s Kip Keino Classics in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Kenyan ran 10.05 seconds to place second behind Akani Simbine at the Diamond League meeting in Rabat on Sunday, the second time he would finish second behind Simbine in the Diamond League this year.

Omanyala was thrilled with his performance in Rabat and hopes to run faster at the Kip Keino Classics, an event that provided him the track to run his 9.77 African record in 2021.

‘The race (in Rabat) was very good, and I am happy for achieving the second place, however, I still need to improve to achieve better results. My next race will be in Kenya, and I will try to do better than here.

‘This is my second time in Rabat and each time the atmosphere is fantastic, and I also enjoyed the cheering of the crowd, and I will definitely come back again,’ said the Kenyan who was 29 in January.
