Onuachu becomes 44th Nigerian to score in the Premier League
Paul Onuachu scored his first Premier League goal on his 23rd appearance for Southampton.
The Nigerian, subbed on for the eighth time in 12 games so far this season in the competition, netted on 91st minutes to make it 3-2 for Southampton who unsuccessfully failed failed to overturn a 3-0 deficit.
Onuachu has now become the 44th Nigerian to score in the competition out of the 57 that has played (still playing) in the competition.
The defeat was, however, his 18th in the 23 games he has played competition, winning just twice.
Onuachu joined Southampton in January 2023 but has been unable to deliver the goals he was so regularly delivering for KRC Genk in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The 30 year old went on loan to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig, where he scored 17 goals in 25 appearances.
With so much interest in the Nigerian, especially from clubs in Turkey, it is not certain if Southampton will allow him to leave this window.
