Onuachu is Trabzonspor’s game-changer as Super Lig side thrives when Nigerian striker finds the net

Paul Onuachu has once again proven to be a vital figure for Trabzonspor, with a standout statistic highlighting the club’s reliance on his goals.
After returning to the club following a season away, the Nigerian striker has picked up where he left off, leading the scoring charts and driving results.
Onuachu, who initially joined Trabzonspor on loan from Southampton during the 2023/2024 season, re-signed permanently this summer and wasted no time making his mark.
He scored the decisive goal in the club’s opening 1–0 win over Kocaelispor, marking his first strike in the burgundy blue jersey after a 445-day gap.
He followed that up with goals in the 4th week against Samsunspor and the 6th week against Gaziantep FK, both of which ended in 1–1 draws.
All three goals came in home fixtures, and collectively earned Trabzonspor five of their 11 points in the first six weeks of the Trendyol Super League season.
With three goals in six matches, Onuachu is the team’s top scorer, accounting for more than half of Trabzonspor’s total of five goals. Only Savic and Augusto have added to the tally with one goal each.
Across his time at the club, Onuachu has now scored 20 goals in 31 official appearances, averaging 0.64 goals per game.
His 2023–2024 campaign saw him net 15 goals in 21 league matches and 2 in 4 Turkish Cup outings.
