Onyali, Henry and Victor Okorie, top list of 12-member LOC for 23rd National Sports Festival
Former African queen of the track and one of the most decorated Nigerian track and field stars of all-time, Mary Onyali, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria duo of Henry Okorie and Victor Okorie and nine others top the list of the Local Organising Committee for the 23rd National Sports Festival announced Monday by the Governor of Enugu state, Dr Peter Mbah.
The LOC Members, according to the Governor were carefully selected for their competence, excellence and exceptional contributions to the Sport sector.
The LOC will be chaired by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Enugu state, Lloyd Ike Ekweremadu Jr.
The Committee also has as members, Bamiduro Olumide, a respected Sports Management expert and former Badminton Champion who will serve as the General Secretary, Aku Aghazu, an accomplished lawyer with specialization in Sports Management and Blessing Chisalam Ekwe, the COO of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria and FIFA licensed Agent.
Others include Davidson Owumi, the highly experienced Sports Administrator and current COO of the Nigeria Professional Football League who is also the former General Manager of Enugu Rangers FC, Tony Ugwu, the Chairman of Enugu Football Association and Jonathan Nnaji who is the President of the Modern Pentathlon Federation
Boniface Onovo, the Director of Organising Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ephraim Ochonma, the Director of Coaching Enugu state Ministry of Youth and Sports and Obiora Obasi, the Technical Assistant to the Honourable Commissioner, Enugu state Ministry of Youth and Sports complete the list.
The Governor said the State has full confidence in the competence of all the members and their individual and collective qualities to organise and deliver an outstanding National Sports Festival.
Ike Ekweremadu Jr. has also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to hosting a festival of International standards.
