Onyedika Transfer Blocked as Brugge Resist Galatasaray Bids

Club Brugge have made it clear they will not allow Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika to leave during the January transfer window, despite repeated approaches from Turkish champions Galatasaray.

According to Belgian outlet HLN, Galatasaray have tabled multiple bids for the 24-year-old, but Brugge have consistently rejected them. The Belgian side are determined to keep hold of their influential midfielder until at least the summer.

While Brugge are not entirely opposed to selling Onyedika, insiders suggest that only an extraordinary offer would convince them to sanction a January move. With his contract running until 2027, the club hold a strong negotiating position.

The summer window could present a different scenario. Onyedika has yet to show any willingness to extend his deal, and with significant interest from abroad, he may decline a new contract in order to push through a transfer.

Galatasaray, who remain keen, may therefore have to wait until the end of the season to secure his services.

Onyedika has been a cornerstone of Brugge’s midfield since joining from FC Midtjylland in 2022. He has already amassed 165 appearances for the Belgian side, scoring eight goals and helping them to both league and cup triumphs.

His earlier spell in Denmark also brought success, with one league title and a domestic cup win.
