‘Osimhen injury not serious’, confirms Okan Buruk after Gala’s victory over Liverpool

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has calmed fears surrounding Victor Osimhen’s fitness, confirming that the striker’s injury is nothing serious following their 1–0 triumph over Liverpool in the Champions League.

‘Osimhen had a cramp in his foot, nothing major,’ Buruk stated after the match. ‘Thankfully, there’s no bad news.’

The reassurance came after a tense and hard-fought encounter at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium, where Galatasaray bounced back from a heavy opening defeat to secure a morale-boosting win against the English giants.

Buruk praised his squad’s focus and resilience, noting the importance of the clean sheet and the unity between players and fans.

‘The atmosphere was electric, and my players stayed focused from start to finish,’ he said. ‘This win is more than just three points, it’s a statement for Turkish football in Europe.’

Buruk also addressed his tactical choices, explaining why Leroy Sané didn’t feature.

‘We played with two wingers today. Barış’s transitions were key, and later I brought on Eren and Sallai. That’s why Leroy didn’t get minutes.’
